New lab members Sukanta Sarkar and Anurag Sau
Sukanta Sarkar joined the Drake lab as a Postdoctoral Associate during the summer of 2022. Sukanta earned his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar. Sukanta is working on the statistical analysis of rumor spreading and tipping points in infectious disease transmission induced by social behaviors. The goal of this work is to determine whether early warning signals due to critical slowing down are detectable in such systems.
Anurag Sau joined the Drake lab as a Postdoctoral Associate this fall. Anurag earned a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Calcutta, India, where he investigated extinction of ecologically beneficiary species due to harvesting. Anurag is conducting experiments with Daphnia and developing stochastic models of extinction in metapopulations. The goal of this study is to understand how the geometry of patch networks affects extinction risk.
Welcome to Sukanta and Anurag!
